Monique

Executive Assistant,
Palo Alto
“At Jumio, I feel connected to every line of business globally and I truly believe that I can reach out to any co-worker with any questions at any time and they would be willing to stop and help me.”
Monique joined Jumio in April 2019 as Executive Asstant. She's working from the office in Palo Alto.
Q: What do you do at Jumio and what does that involve?

A: I am the Executive Assistant to the CEO. My role involves far-reaching impact across the organization with a front-row seat to the inner-workings of a high-growth company.

Q: What was Jumio’s selling point for you – What made you say “I wanna work there!”?

A: Honestly, for me this is a two part answer. During the hiring process, aside from being excited about the innovative product offerings Jumio has to offer, the first selling point was simply my initial interactions with our CEO. The way he spoke about Jumio and his vision for the company moving forward made me want to be a part of the team and be a part of a forward motion, high-growth team!

Q: How does your work environment differ from other companies you’ve worked for in the past?

A: At Jumio, I feel connected to every line of business globally and I truly believe that I can reach out to any co-worker with any questions at any time and they would be willing to stop and help me.

Q: What are the most interesting bits of the role?

A: I feel like getting to know all of my teammates has been the most interesting part of the role so far. I do also enjoy all of the fun internal events that we do together, but most importantly I really enjoy the charitable events that we do together to give back for the greater good.

Q: What do most people misunderstand about the role?

A: I think with any administrative assistant role most people have the misconception that the role is just all calendaring, expense reports and travel arrangements. In my experience, to be a great executive assistant you truly need to be a great business partner to your leader as well. Being a great business partner entails having a strategic, 1-1 partnership with your leader that requires thoughtfulness, confidentiality, and a supreme bias for optimization.

Q: What’s the secret to being good at your job?

A: In my humble opinion, the secret to being good at your job is being able to be your authentic self while bringing your skills to the table, always being open to new ideas, learning new skills and being growth-minded!

Q: What didn’t you expect about the role?

Jumio is a tight knit team with employees that have been with the company for 5 plus years, so I did not expect to be welcomed and integrated into the team so quickly. I was very surprised at how open and welcoming absolutely everyone has been.

Q: How have you been able to progress your career or learn new things at Jumio?

A: I truly started to progress in my career when two things started to happen; 1. I started working with really awesome leaders who I learned immensely from, and 2. I started bringing my skills as well as my authentic self to the table every day. When you are your authentic self, you will attract the environments that suit you best in life.

Q: What would you say to potential employees wanting to work at Jumio? What qualities should they have?

A: If you want to work at Jumio you must be driven, hard-working, open to new challenges and excited about the product offerings. You should be prepared to bring your authentic self and your awesome skill set to the table everyday.
