Q: What do you do at Jumio and what does that involve?
A: As Marketing Manager I’m responsible for managing the strategic and tactical execution of marketing plans to grow leads/sales pipeline and brand awareness in the Americas.
Q: What was Jumio’s selling point for you – What made you say “I wanna work there!”?
A: As soon as I stepped in the doors of the Jumio office, I knew the company was one of a kind. You could sense that not only were people working hard but they also enjoyed being around one another and had some fun too!
To top it off, I really like what Jumio stands for and the work they are doing to prevent online fraud. I knew I wanted to be part of that.
Q: Before Jumio, did you have similar experiences at previous companies or was this fairly new to you when you started?
A: The tech world was a very new industry of work for me. For most of my career I worked in the marketing and communications field in the commercial real estate industry. I just loved how fast things were moving in tech that it inspired me to switch industries all together.
Q: What do most people misunderstand about the role?
A: Most people might not understand how much time and effort goes into marketing campaigns and events. Countless hours and some sleepless nights, especially for some of our larger in-person events, to ensure our campaigns and events go off without a hitch and generate the results we are looking for.
Q: What’s the secret to being good at your job?
A: The relationships you make with your co-workers and vendors is key. It is so important to become a trusted ally and business partner to those you work with on a daily basis.
Q: What challenges did you face and what did you learn from that?
A: The biggest challenges I faced when I first started in my role was learning the ins and outs of the tech industry and just how to “sell” identity verification. It was a challenge but so exciting.
Q: How have you been able to progress your career or learn new things at Jumio?
A: I was originally hired as a digital marketing coordinator in Jumio’s Palo Alto office and was quickly able to demonstrate my work ethic and deliver results for the Americas region. After six months, I was promoted to Marketing Manager, Americas. I’ve worked hard to get where I am and I look forward to how my career will progress with Jumio.
Q: What would you say to potential employees wanting to work at Jumio? What qualities should they have?
A: I would say get ready for the ride of your life! Working here is certainly a ton of fun, but you have to be ready for the rapid growth and the fast-paced work environment. Be ready to face challenges head-on but know that your team members will be there to support you in times of need. We really are “One Jumio”.
